- CSC - Common Services Centre programme is an initiative of the Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Government of India.
- CSCs are easy access points for delivery of various digital services to rural and urban people in India, thereby contributing to a digitally and financially inclusive society.
- In rural India, CSCs are not just service delivery points, but changing agents too, promoting rural entrepreneurship and building rural capacities and livelihoods.
Services
The CSCs offer web-enabled e-governance services in rural areas, including applications for Passport, Pancard, Aadhaar, Voter ID, Ration Card etc , various Government certificates, and utility payments such as electricity, telephone and water bills. People can access high quality and cost-effective video, voice and data content and services, in the areas of e-governance, education, health, telemedicine, tele-law, entertainment as well as other private services through CSCs.
Passport
Passport is a legal document or a certification that is issued by a government or an authority entitled to do so. A person having a valid passport usually uses it as a travel document for travelling other nations. The holder of a valid passport possesses the right to protection while being in other nations and also to get returned to the same country which issued the passport.
Pancard
Permanent Account Number is known as PAN in short, and in simple words it is a 10-digit alphanumeric character used for identifying an entity. The Income Tax Department of India is responsible for issuing PAN in India, which is imprinted on a card hence known as PAN Card.
Voter ID Card
Voter ID Card is a document issued by the Government of India to the citizens primarily for the purpose of casting vote. Voter’s id card also serves as a document for identification purpose. It is also known as EPIC (electros photo identity card).
eDistrict Services
eDistrict is a Kerala government initiative to provide government services to all citizens through Common Service Centres (CSCs) which are of easy access. Additionally eDistrict portal links different government departments to provide a quality service to all citizens without any delay.

CSCs are the access points for delivery of essential public utility services, social welfare schemes, healthcare, financial, education and agriculture services, apart from host of B2C services to citizens in rural and remote areas of the country. It is a pan-India network catering to regional, geographic, linguistic and cultural diversity of the country, thus enabling the Government’s mandate of a socially, financially and digitally inclusive society.
